Mooddai International Bank is the first U.S. bank charter specifically focused on the financial services needs of the Ethiopian-American community. Our mission is to understand and prioritize the financial needs of Ethiopian-American businesses and community organizations, and to actively support the growth of a productive, vibrant, and diverse Ethiopian-American community. We will embrace, encourage, and support the many diverse stakeholders throughout the community.

Our Washington, D.C. metropolitan community represents a distinct, growing, and underserved segment of the banking market. Ethiopian-Americans have long cherished a bank that understands and prioritizes their financial needs, businesses, and community organizations. The first branch will be located in Washington D.C.
The DMV metropolitan area has the largest population of Ethiopian-Americans in the United States.
With DC as it’s anchor, MIB will have an online presence serving Ethiopian-Americans across the nation.
While the primary focus is to serve Ethiopian-Americans, Mooddai International Bank will serve all communities in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and beyond.
When can I bank here?
Since 2018, bank organizers and funding investors have been hard at work to try and make Mooddai International Bank a reality. Recently, our formal application has been conditionally approved by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), placing us one step closer to finalizing our bank.

Additional seed capital will enable us to address the organizational challenges in preparing for charter application, recruit high caliber talent and secure the first branch location.
