Our Washington, D.C. metropolitan community represents a distinct, growing, and underserved segment of the banking market. Ethiopian-Americans have long cherished a bank that understands and prioritizes their financial needs, businesses, and community organizations. The first branch will be located in Washington D.C.

The DMV metropolitan area has the largest population of Ethiopian-Americans in the United States.

With D.C. as it’s anchor, MIB expects to have a strong representation from the Ethiopian-American community on its Board enabling it to better understand and serve the financial needs of the community.

While the primary focus is to serve Ethiopian-Americans, Mooddai International Bank will serve all communities in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and beyond.
When can I bank here?
Since 2018, Bank organizers and funding investors have been hard at work to try to make Mooddai International Bank a reality. We anticipate filing an application soon for a bank charter with the regulators. We hope to open for business during the first quarter of 2026.
